Conforming with Standard 12.2 Performance Measurement
This tool contains explanations and examples intended to assist CAEs with establishing performance measures for the internal audit function. It contains four main sections:
- Purpose of Performance Measurement – explains why understanding and implementing performance measurement is necessary to achieve conformance with the Global Internal Audit Standards™.
- Design Process – outlines the methodological structure of proper performance measurement and describes the key characteristics that individual measures must have.
- Implementation Process – shows practical ways to implement performance measurement in the organization to ensure participation and commitment.
- Performance Measurement Examples – provides a list of performance measures from which to choose and modify, two examples of reporting options, and stakeholder survey questions. These examples should be adapted to the unique contexts of individual internal audit functions before they are adopted.
