IIA Statement on Recent Attacks in Georgia and Colorado

We are deeply saddened by two mass shootings in the United States in less than a week. In each case, individuals going about their normal daily routines were senselessly killed for reasons that continue to perplex and horrify us. Such acts of violence and hate, whether physical or verbal, seemingly random or targeting specific groups of people, have become all too common but are entirely counter to our shared values as a global organization.

It is also unacceptable that anyone should live in fear merely because of their race, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. The IIA stands by the basic tenant that we stand as one, embracing our diversity, and encouraging equity and inclusion in our communities and in the organizations we represent. We mourn those killed in the past week and for all those who are victim of such tragic acts.

Over the weeks and months ahead, we plan to explore actionable strategies that promote understanding, diversity, inclusiveness, and equity throughout our organization.
