Governance, Risk and Control Conference Now an Online Experience
LAKE MARY, Fla. (16 July 2020) — As technology continues to disrupt industries, leaders must learn to manage the associated risks, embrace change, and adjust their business models. Particularly during the global pandemic, enterprises must accelerate alignment of their information technology governance and risk management. This is the focus of the upcoming 2020 Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) Conference, jointly presented by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ISACA.
The conference, scheduled for 17-19 August 2020 as a virtual event, is expected to bring together more than 400 professionals in business IT roles, including governance, risk, control, information security, audit, cybersecurity and privacy. The annual event draws an international audience from more than 25 countries to discuss challenges, forge solutions, and define the future of GRC globally. Cyber risks and digital disruption, as well as their impact on corporate culture, will be key themes throughout the three-day conference and two additional days of workshops.
Opening the conference as keynote speaker will be Caspar Berry, a former professional poker player who will present “Risk Taking and Decision Making in this New Age of Uncertainty,” offering insights gained at the gaming tables of Las Vegas to help attendees think of new ways to approach GRC. Jason Jones, PhD, author of 28 Days to a Motivated Team, will discuss during his general session how to activate natural motivations toward becoming more influential and persuasive. In her closing keynote presentation, Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, Global Accounting Strategy Director for the Financial Services Group at Oracle, will explore the intersection of emerging technologies, the future of work, and the future of finance.
Executive leaders from The IIA and ISACA will participate in a moderated chat during a general session to discuss “Resilience Today and in the Long Term.” Bill Michalisin, CIA, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at The IIA, and Nader Qaimari, Chief Learning Officer at ISACA, will be joined by moderator Greg Grocholski, CIA, CISA, an audit and finance executive consultant and longtime leader with both The IIA and ISACA. They will share insight on building resilience, ensuring business continuity, and adding competencies to adjust to new environments.
The 2020 GRC Conference sessions will be grouped into three comprehensive tracks:
- Governance, Risk, Control, and Compliance
- Cyber, Data and Technology Trends
- Leadership and Career Development
The event will also feature two post-conference workshops. On 20 August, Shawna M. Flanders, CISA, CISM, CRISC, SSBB, SSGB, Director of IT Curriculum at The IIA, will present “Assessing the Business Risks of Utilizing Technology,” with instruction on how to adopt a systemic approach to identifying, managing, and monitoring risk, as well as how knowledge deficits in cybersecurity, data, and new technology can limit understanding of significant risks. On 21 August, Greg Witte, Program Manager for the Security Standards Team at G2 Inc., will teach “Implementing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework,” where attendees will learn how to integrate the framework using COBIT® and to understand the Cybersecurity Framework V1.1, its goals, the implementation steps, and the ability to apply learnings at their enterprises.
Attendees can earn up to 18 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credits for attending the conference, and an additional 7.5 CPEs for attending one of the post-conference workshops.
