Welcome to the IIA Greater Boston Chapter
Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.
-
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is a global professional organization whose purpose is to promote the practice of internal auditing. This is accomplished through training and development programs, certification programs, and ongoing development of internal auditing standards and professional practice guidance literature. The local chapter of the IIA is the Boston Chapter.
The Chapter’s Board of Governors has created a Scholarship Award. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student who is an accounting, management, finance, or internal audit major that attends a college or university located in the Boston Area and exemplifies the character and leadership qualities promoted by the IIA.

Dear Greater Boston Chapter members:
First, I would like to thank the Greater Boston membership for your support. We closed out the 2023 – 2024 Board year strong and have great momentum as we kick off 2024 – 2025! I am very excited for everything we have planned, including:
- A mix of in-person, hybrid, and virtual CPE-eligible programs
- Great speakers on relevant topics like fraud, cyber, privacy, and AI
- The return of networking happy hours
- Opportunities to earn ethics CPEs to meet your CIA requirements!
In addition to all of that…
- The District Conference returns in May 2025! Save the date for May 20 – 22, 2025 at Mohegan Sun. Attendees can once again look forward to great speakers, topical sessions, fantastic networking, and obtaining CPEs all at a reasonable cost at a great venue.
- We are also celebrating our Chapter’s 80th anniversary in 2025! We are planning a great event in fall 2025 to mark this notable achievement. More details to come!
Thank you to the officers, volunteers, and members who make all of this possible and enable our success. Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or suggestions on how the chapter can best support you! I look forward to meeting as many of our members as possible at our events and hearing from all of you. Our chapter email is: chapter13@iiachaptercommunications.org.
Best,
Kristen McCarthy
Greater Boston Chapter President
