Welcome to the IIA Central Kentucky Chapter
The Central Kentucky Chapter was founded in 1984 with 17 members. The founder and first President was Richard Pitcock, who worked at the time for Jerrico, Inc. (now Long John Silver’s) in Lexington. The first Chapter meeting was held on January 10, 1985 at the Western Steer Restaurant on Richmond Road in Lexington. A total of five meetings were held that first year. The membership by the end of the first year had grown to 26, half of which were employed by Jerrico.
The Chapter experienced significant growth soon thereafter. Auditors from Kentucky Utilities joined the Chapter in 1985-86 and the Chapter had grown to 54 members by the 1988-89 year. Almost half the membership that year was either employed by Kentucky Utilities or Jerrico.
Many significant events occurred in the formative years of the Chapter. The first Chapter seminar was held on October 16, 1986 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington. The seminar lasted one and one-half days and provided four different tracks from which to choose. Also in that year the Chapter began a longstanding tradition of cosponsoring dinner meetings with other local Chapters. The November dinner meeting in 1986 was cosponsored with the National Association of Accountants (NAA). The Chapter cosponsored dinner meetings and other activities with the NAA through the 1991-92 Chapter year.
