Welcome to the IIA Tucson Chapter

Dear IIA Tucson Chapter Members,
I grew up on a farm in Central Washington State. Every morning my dad would come downstairs to wake me and my brothers up between 5:00 and 5:30 to tend to the livestock and irrigate our different fields. My dad, as he would start down the stairs, would almost always start to sing that famous song from the musical Oklahoma, “Oh, what a beautiful morning….. Oh, what a beautiful day…. Hey, Hey,… I’ve got a wonderful feeling, everything’s going my way…” It was his wake up song. As you can imagine, teenage boys did not appreciate “all that happiness” so early in the morning. But, as I grew in maturity and understanding, I have learned to appreciate the optimism and enthusiasm that my father showed every morning. He was excited about the possibilities of the day. Over the last year and a half, probably all of us at different times have struggled to find the optimism and enthusiasm in our daily lives. The last year and a half has been tough in many ways but rewarding in others. We as an IIA Chapter have not been able to meet, learn, or socialize together. However, we have found ways to connect, keep up on the latest training, and build relationships despite the many restrictions. Notwithstanding the challenges from COVID, the IIA Tucson Chapter is in an all-around positive position. This last year the Chapter worked with several other Chapters to provide needed training and CPE hours. The Chapter Board especially wanted to recognize and thank the Phoenix Chapter for their collaboration and support. The Tucson Board’s main priority this year is to provide training that is meaningful to Chapter members. We believe that this will precipitate involvement and support from each of you. As a Board, we would ask you to send us your ideas for training programs that you or your groups need. We have several ideas but need your input to clarify those needs.
The IIA Tucson Chapter Board is excited about the possibilities that are reopening to our group. We are hoping to have a live, in person training event, in Q4. We are optimistic and enthusiastic about the upcoming year. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Brett E. Bergeson
President, IIA
