Welcome to the IIA Cameroon Chapter!

Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's leader in standards, certification, education, research, and technical guidance throughout the world. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.

On 17 December 2017, IIA Global terminated its Master Relationship Agreement (MRA) with The Cameroonian Institute of Internal Auditors and Controllers (“Institute Camerounais des Auditeurs et Controleurs Internes”) that saw the establishment of IIA Cameroon. Gross non-compliance with the MRA and appalling governance issues accounted for the disaffiliation from the Global Network.

In 2022, a group of dynamic internal audit, governance, control and risk management enthusiast came together and set up to re-affiliate Cameroon to the IIA Global Network. A formative committee of six (06) members constituted from a cross section of the sectors in Cameroon and an IIA assigned mentor was approved and tasked with this mission.

April 2024 saw the rebirth of IIA Cameroon as an International Chapter of IIA Global. Created as a not-for-profit organization with the principal objective to provide dynamic leadership and advocacy for the profession locally.

Mission

The mission of IIA Cameroon is to provide dynamic leadership and advocacy for the profession of internal auditing in Cameroon.

Activities in support of this mission will include, but will not be limited to:

• Advocating and promoting the value internal audit professionals add to their organizations.
• Providing comprehensive professional educational and development opportunities, standards and other professional practice guidance, and certification programs.
• Researching, disseminating, and promoting knowledge concerning internal auditing and its appropriate role in control, risk management, and governance to practitioners and stakeholders.
• Educating practitioners and other relevant audiences on best practices in internal auditing.
• Bringing together internal auditors from all over the country to share information, knowledge and experiences.

Chapter Officers

Dear Members of IIA Cameroon Chapter,

It is with much pleasure that I welcome you to IIA Cameroon, the only local professional body affiliated to a global network (IIA Global) dedicated to the advancement and development of the internal audit profession.

The journey to re-affiliation was long and trickery starting back in July 2022 with an email to IIA Global Chapter Relation seeking for guidance on how to get Cameroon re-affiliated. On 4 October 2022, approval was given with a mandate to establish a formative committee, prepare and present a compelling business case to the Institute Relation Committee and as they say, the rest is history. And today, I am proud to present to you a rebirth IIA Cameroon

If you are an internal audit, governance, risk and control enthusiast, if you are passionate about internal auditing, if you want to be a change agent, a trusted advisor and a value creator, then look no further, destiny has come to you. In the face of ever-evolving challenges and complexities, our role as internal auditors has never been more critical. Our commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance, ethics, transparency, and accountability remains steadfast.

As we commence this Chapter, priority shall be on the following pillars that will serve as foundation for our success:
