Internal Auditors Doha Chapter bags Global 2021 Building Awareness Champion Award
The IIA global body awarded the Institute of Internal Auditors Doha the 2021 Building Awareness Champion. This award is given annually by the IIA to recognize the exceptional commitment to promoting the internal audit profession.
"Internal audit plays a vital role at all times, but especially during times of crisis. Despite unprecedented challenges, you pushed ahead with courage and determination to help build awareness of the value that internal audit brings to stakeholders. Thank you for everything you did to demonstrate the truth and timeliness of that message," said IIA President and CEO Anthony J. Pugliese in his letter of congratulations.
"The award is the result of the IIA Qatar member's dedication to the profession. The digital award reflects that this was indeed a time of 'Rising to the challenge' and it is a mark of the professional commitment," stated Sundaresan Rajeswar, Board Member who spearheaded the award nomination with Board members
The Institute of Internal Auditors Global board elected 2021-22 IIA Global Chairman Charlie T. Wright. Wright is an experienced chief audit executive with more than 35 years of corporate experience.
His theme, "Future Ready," explores the transformative nature of technology, how internal auditors must upskill to become tech-savvy, and how they can create efficiencies in their work and their organizations.
"The future is coming at internal auditors at lightning speeds," Wright says. "Where IT audit was once a specialty, given the accumulated impact of several different technologies, knowledge, and use of technology should now be considered baseline requirements for internal audit professionals. As the pace of change continues to accelerate, internal auditors need to prepare themselves to be adaptive and resilient — to be Future Ready."
The Doha Chapter is scheduling very popular webinars regularly with top Internal audit leaders globally. The upcoming events are on Auditing strategy by Ranjith Singh, Global Board member from Malaysia, and Measurement of likelihood by Zach la Rouf from South Africa
