The Austin Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) serves the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area. The Chapter has over 800 members.
Originally founded as the Austin Audit Club in 1978, the Austin Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors was formally recognized September 5, 1979. Now, we are more than 800 members strong with representation from industry and the public sector.
The Austin Chapter is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE sponsors, and has a long history of providing continuing professional education to auditors in the Austin area for more than 30 years. We also provide networking opportunities to internal audit professionals from Austin and the surrounding area and promote the profession to future professionals through relationships with local universities.
The Austin Chapter earned Gold status in the IIA’s Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) and was recognized as a Chapter of Excellence for supporting the IIA’s CIA Learning System.
Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.

During Internal Audit Awareness Month in May, we shared our passion for internal auditing, promoting the profession through a variety of events and campaigns designed to inform and engage, raise awareness, and help stakeholders understand the value of internal audit in their organizations.

The Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) was established by the IIA to ensure that chapters serve their members and the internal audit profession. A chapter must earn the minimum CAP points in each of the three service categories: Service to Members, Service to Profession, and Chapter Administration.

Chapter History The Austin Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors began as the Austin Audit Club in 1978, and was recognized and chartered by the IIA on March 8, 1979.
