Get Recognized: Internal Audit Awareness Program Recognition Process
- Confirm external academic accreditation. The academic institution must hold external accreditation from a professionally recognized body, such as AACSB, EQUIS, or others.
- Align your existing course syllabi with that suggested in the Global Model Internal Auditing Curriculum.
- Connect with your local IIA Chapter or National Institute to obtain a signature of support. If there is no local IIA contact in your area, reach out to The IIA Academic Relations team at Academic@theiia.org.
- Submit a Request for Recognition Form to Academic@theiia.org. Acceptance to the program will be given within 60 days of form submission.
- Annually report on your program’s status. Participating schools are required to complete an annual report provided by The IIA’s Academic Relations team to maintain recognition.
Internal Auditing Education Partnership Program Eligibility
The Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) recognizes colleges and universities that equip students for careers in internal auditing and lay the groundwork for students to become Certified Internal Auditors.
IAEP schools are accredited colleges or universities offering internal audit curricula within an undergraduate or graduate degree program, endorsed by The IIA. Schools must:
- Designate a faculty champion and institutional commitment — Appoint a faculty leader to coordinate, advocate for, and grow the program, ensuring its long-term success.
- Be recognized as a reputable source for internal audit talent — Demonstrate high academic standards and are recognized as quality sources to recruit internal audit talent.
- Partner with a local IIA Chapter or National Institute — Collaborate to provide students with networking opportunities, industry insights, and ongoing program support for sustained success.
