Welcome to the IIA Trinidad & Tobago Chapter
The TRINIDAD & TOBAGO Chapter, a voluntary non-profit organization was accepted as a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors on 30th September, 1988 at a Conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This was after several attempts at formation encouraged by Mr. G. Peter Wilson, then President of IIA and followed up by visits made to Trinidad by two International representatives of the IIA.
A steering committee was drawn up from a membership of eighteen (18) to plan an Inauguration Function which was held at Hotel Normandie on February 28, 1989.
The Chapter was incorporated by an Act of Parliament (Act #21 of 1991) with its main objectives being to:
- Increase knowledge and skills of its members as regards internal auditing and the practice and methods thereof.
- Establish and maintain high standards of integrity, honour and character of its members.
- Promote and protect the welfare and interest of the Institute and the internal auditing profession in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter currently has over 300 members enlisted and comprise of those from State Enterprises, Private Companies, the Public Service, Statutory Bodies, Professional Firms and individuals, Credit Unions, Banks and Educational Institutions.
Over the years the Chapter has had the support of the Chief Executive Officers, Heads of Departments, Prominent business personnel and Parliamentarians not only by encouraging the participation of staff in Chapter Affairs but also by sponsoring activities, serving as guest speakers or panelists at Seminars/Workshops organized by the Chapter.
The Board of the IIA TT wishes to thank all persons for their support over the last thirty-five (35) years and look forward to continued goodwill in years to come. Special mention must be made to our affiliate, The Institute of Internal Auditors, International. Their guidance and support is ongoing.
