The St. Louis Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) serves the St. Louis metro area. The Chapter has over 700 members.
The St. Louis Chapter was chartered on June 24, 1946. It was the fifteenth chapter to receive its charter. The chapter began with 12 charter members and has expanded to over 700 members representing well over 175 companies and organizations. The chapter's main focus through its 60-plus years of existence has been the interaction and education of its members.
The Chapter sponsors monthly meetings and seminars with presentations by internal audit practitioners and educators, including many presentations by Chapter members. In addition, the sessions feature speakers discussing current integral auditing topics. In order to foster the IIA’s motto of Progress Through Sharing, the Chapter sponsors the Audit Management Roundtable. The roundtables are a discussion forum comprised of the leadership from various St. Louis companies and organizations. The College Relations Committee has sponsored hundreds of students over the years through the Chapter’s “Student Night” Program. The college program enables students to meet practitioners and discuss the internal audit profession.
We are pleased to be a 2023 Building Awareness Champion!
During Internal Audit Awareness Month in May, we shared our passion for internal auditing, promoting the profession through a variety of events and campaigns designed to inform and engage, raise awareness, and help stakeholders understand the value of internal audit in their organizations.
Hello St. Louis IIA Chapter!
As a matter of introduction, my name is Evan Gruenkemeyer, and I’m excited to serve as your 2021-2022 Chapter President! First off, I want to thank our Board, Nominating Committee, and most importantly, YOU, for giving me this opportunity to serve as your Chapter President! This year, we have a great team of new and familiar faces committed to providing you the resources and training opportunities to help you succeed in internal audit.
I would be remiss to not thank last year’s Board, officers, volunteers, and members for your continued (virtual!) engagement and participation. Our Chapter’s success and achievements are a direct result of your dedication and involvement. In July, we received the 2021 Building Awareness Champion Award. Congratulations to all that helped us achieve this honor!
Our Programming Team is working hard to finalize our 2021-2022 events. Right now, we plan to keep holding virtual events, at our reduced pricing, through Q1 2022.
As our chapter continues to grow, we welcome and appreciate your questions and involvement. Whether you have an idea for a training topic, or if you are looking to become a volunteer in our Chapter, we want to hear from you. Please contact me anytime at evan.gruenkemeyer@gmail.com or the Chapter mailbox at IIAStLouis@gmail.com.
Thank you for being part of the St. Louis Chapter – here’s to another successful year!
Stay well and be kind!
Evan Gruenkemeyer, President 2021-2022
