Domain IV: Managing the Internal Audit Function covers the responsibilities of the chief audit executive (CAE) for managing the internal audit function so that it conforms to the Standards and in accordance with its charter. Standard 9.3 (Methodologies) requires CAEs to establish methodologies (policies and procedures) to guide the internal audit function in a disciplined and systematic manner.
In this session, participating internal audit leaders will:
- Exchange strategies related to the development, scope (content), implementation, tools utilized to drive/ensure conformance, and continuous improvement of policies and procedures (methodologies).
- Share experiences, advantages, and disadvantages of integrating policies and procedures into an internal audit function’s audit management system and other function technology.
- Gain insights from peers on training internal audit team members on internal audit function policies and procedures (methodologies) to grow, enhance, and sustain their knowledge and ensure consistent conformance.
- Discuss how the size of an internal audit function may impact the scope and level of detail of the function’s policies and procedures (methodologies) as well as training.
