The IIA is committed to increasing and enhancing internal auditing education in colleges and universities worldwide. Internal auditing is fundamental to the governance process of any well-run organization, so internal audit education should be part of every business and public administration curriculum. The focus of this program is to partner with colleges and universities to offer quality internal auditing programs.

Internal Auditing Academic Advancement Fund, Inc. (IAAAF)
The IAAAF was established in August 2006 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to raise financial support for Center and Partner level schools in the IAEP program.

2008 IIA International Conference Track
The Academic Relations Committee is again hosting a track of concurrent sessions to encourage practitioners & educators to partner to ensure the future of the profession is the best that it can be.
Highlights for 2008 are sessions addressing ethics, recruiting, controls, research and so much more. Our featured speaker is Cynthia Cooper, world renowned speaker on the fall of WorldCom and author of the new book Extraordinary Circumstances: The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower. Cynthia will join Urton Anderson, the chairman of The IIA Internal Auditing Standards Board, to discuss ethics in today's business world as well as in the classroom. IAEP Leadership and Networking Conference
On October 26-28, 2007, educators and students from 14 IAEP schools gathered in Orlando to meet with practitioners for the first IAEP conference. The conference is for IAEP schools at the Center and Partner levels. The invitation-only conference will be an annual IAEP event. Click here for the press release (Word, 30KB).
IIA Grants Michael J. Barrett Doctoral Dissertation Award to Margaret Christ, CIA, CPIM
The IIA and its Academic Relations Committee are pleased to announce that Margaret Christ, CIA, CPIM, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Texas at Austin, has been awarded the Michael J. Barrett Doctoral Dissertation Award. Her dissertation entitled, "Do Controls Cause a False Sense of Security?: Biased Residual Risk Assessment and Unwarranted Risk-taking Due to Over-reliance on Control Systems" is expected to be completed in 2008.
